SMC Air Grippers
SMC offers one of the most extensive lines of pneumatic grippers (air grippers) in the industry today. The series include pneumatic rotary grippers, two, three and four finger parallel styles that are ideal for gripping and centering; a wide opening parallel model, designed to accommodate many different sized parts; a heavy duty style, suitable for a wide range of applications; an angular model, speed adjustment built in; a toggle to give reliable gripping support; a low-contamination style, equipped with a protective boot; and electric models.
These grippers utilize a wedge cam design to minimize their size yet retains a high holding force. The small size of the units makes them well suited for end-of-arm or space constrained pick-and-place applications. The three-finger design of the MHS3 makes it ideal for gripping round objects and loading or unloading items from the chuck of a machine tool.

Series MHT2, with its newly designed cylinder body, allows small auto switches to be mounted on 4 surfaces. When the gripper fingers are closed, the toggle mechanism is actuated to produce a strong and stable holding force. This toggle mechanism will hold, even when air pressure drops. The MHT2 is easy to maintain, and all external parts are treated to resist corrosion. Threaded mounting holes in the gripper's body and finger housing allow a variety of mounting positions. Bore sizes include: 32, 40, 50 and 63.
The MHW2 is ideal for applications where saving space is a necessity. In addition to its compact size, each one of the two fingers, synchronized by a rack and pinion, rotates back perpendicular to the gripper. In this position, the MHW2 will only require clearance for the body. While the fingers are retracted at a 180-degree angle, the gripper can be moved in an X-Y plane to the work.
The MHY2 is a compact 180-degree angular gripper. Its size and mass allow for small, lightweight tooling, while delivering large gripping forces via piston/cam design. The MHY2 gives you maximum installation flexibility with mounting options on 4 sides and recessed auto switch grooves on either side of the gripper. Precision reference points on body and fingers are standard.
The MHZ2 series is a standard type parallel air gripper, taking the place of the MHQ(G)2 series. A linear guide provides high rigidity and high accuracy. MHZ2 can operate under higher pressure even at a larger holding point and overhang. High degree of mounting precision is achieved and mounting repeatability is improved.

Series MIS is a one-finger type escapement. The MIS has independent fingers for free setting of timing and mounting position to accommodate the work pieces moving down a line. Supply ports on both sides allow selection of piping direction. Separation of the piston and fingers allows easy replacement of fingers for maintenance. Three different finger variations make it possible to freely select attachment mounting surfaces on the fingers.

Series MIW is a slider guide cylinder, with two sequentially operating fingers. The sequential operation uses a mechanically interlocking cam mechanism in addition to control of air passage to the pistons for reliable separation of work pieces. Separation of the piston and fingers allows easy replacement of fingers for maintenance. Three different finger variations make it possible to freely select attachment mounting surfaces on the fingers.
The MHF2 Series is a low profile air gripper, designed to save substantial space. The height of the MHF2 gripper is approximately 1/3 the size of an equivalent MHZ series gripper. Finger strokes are available in short, long, and intermediate for each size. High rigidity can be obtained due to adoption of linear guide.
