SMC Linear Rodless Air Cylinder
A rodless air cylinder differs from a basic air cylinder in that no piston rod extends outside the cylinder body. Instead, the internal piston is connected to an external carriage, by means of a magnetic or mechanical coupling system.
SMC's rodless air cylinders are ideal for long stroke applications because they are unaffected by rod overhang, bending, piston binding, and uneven seal wear, and for use in confined areas where space is a premium.
The MY1H-Z mechanical joint rodless cylinder now includes piping in four directions on the head cover which allows on site piping to suit the installation conditions. Piping options can be selected according to the application. MY1H-Z is available in 3 bore sizes 25mm, 32mm, and 40mm. Standard strokes are available from 50mm to 600mm.

Mechanically jointed rodless cylinder series MY3 provides high functionality with reduced height and length. The uniquely designed piston shape enables reduction of the height and length as well as practical arrangement of the common piping passages, cushion mechanism and positioning mechanism. This has achieved drastic miniaturization and weight reduction.

High functionality with reduced height and length compared to MY1 series
Mechanically jointed rodless cylinder series MY3 provides high functionality with reduced height and length. The uniquely designed piston shape enables reduction of the height and length as well as practical arrangement of the common piping passages, cushion mechanism and positioning mechanism. This has achieved drastic miniaturization and weight reduction.
The overall length has been reduced by between 38mm and 104mm compared to MY1M series
The height has been reduced by between 7mm and 37mm
The weight has been reduced by approximately 50%
Sliding performance has been stabilized and the service life has been improved due to the adoption of a new sliding material
As compared with the existing MY3B series (basic type), the load weight and allowable moment have been approximately doubled
Magnetically coupled cylinders save space and have a wide range of applications. The NCY series can be used in many diverse environments, because there is no external leakage. The use of a linear guide makes loading and moments, directly on the cylinder possible. T-Slots on the mounting surfaces provides mounting freedom, and a variety of guides can be used to achieve the necessary accuracy or moment needed for your application. A top cover can be mounted over the sliding section of the cylinder to prevent scratches and damage, and centralized piping minimizes mounting space. The NCY is available in 6 bore sizes 6mm through 40mm and strokes up to 80 inches are standard. Auto switches are available AC /DC and in reed, solid state and 2 color output.

SMC's NCY3B cylinder series, when compared to the NCY2B, reduces minimum operating pressure by approximately 30% using a lubretainer. Unnecessary body weight has been eliminated and the outer cylinder tube diameter has been reduced, making the NCY3B approximately 10% lighter. Mounting dimensions are identical to the NCY2B with the exception of the 1/4" bore, allowing easy replacement. It is possible to order the 1/4" bore (NCY3B6) that is interchangeable with the NCY2B6 by adding the suffix X1468 to the end of the part number.
When working with delicate materials such as Silicone wafers, magnetic disks, or LCD substrates, non-shock actuation must be balanced with high speed/throughput. The REA provides the features needed to allow rapid transfer with a speed of up to 300mm/sec but virtually eliminates shock impact. Integrated cushion spears allow smooth acceleration and deceleration, while also simplifying construction of the cylinder. Based on the magnetically coupled cylinder concept, the REA's resulting smooth acceleration and deceleration occurs without influence from load, speed, or even pressure fluctuations.
